Where are you now?

East Webster Elementary School, Mathiston, MS

Why did you decide to come to MSU and pursue a degree in educaiton?

I chose to enroll at MSU because of the amazing campus and how inclusive everyone seemed when I toured.  I also was looking into schools with a good engineering program.  MSU has a great engineering program, but then I switched my major after already deciding to join the bulldog family. I don't know if I would have chosen MSU if I wasn't planning on studying engineering.  I am thankful that I started out thinking about studying engineering, because it brought me to an amazing school.  I know I would have switched my major no matter where I went because education is where my heart is.  I have been involved with special education since I was in elementary school.  It opened a door that showed me my interest in teaching and the love I have for special education.  I started volunteering with special education from then on.  I got to experience the joy and happiness students felt when they learned something new or mastered a new skill.  Being on the other side watching the students excel in their work is such a reward.  I want to be able to impact students the same way my teachers have impacted me, both in school and outside of school.

What do you want people to know about you?

I love meeting new people and hearing about what makes them happy! I also love to make art.

What advice would you give to entering freshmen or students finishing up high school?

To be yourself.  Don't change for those around you. Continue to be you! Talk to as many people as you can.  These next four years you have such an amazing opportunity to meet people from all over, take advantage of that, and make those sweet friendships.
