Why did you decide to come to MSU and pursue a degree in education?
I decided to visit MSU because my grandfather went there, and I wanted to see the campus. When I did visit, I loved how beautiful the campus was and how nice the people were, so I just kept coming back. I knew that this was the place I wanted to spend my next four years. I wanted to pursue a degree in education because I have been obsessed with learning and the education system my whole life and wanted to give back to the system that shaped me.
What do you want people to know about you?
I am from south Louisiana, I have an older sister who is an OB/GYN and two labs at home, that I wish I could have taken to school with me. I love to dance and read books. My mom was a teacher, and she is a big part of why I am pursuing a career in education.
What advice would you give to entering freshmen or students finishing up high school?
Don't be afraid to get involved on campus, and try something new. You never know where you could make friends. Never forget that you are worth more than your grades; sometimes it's ok to struggle a little bit.
