Where are you now?

Oakdale Elementary School, Brandon, MS

Why did you choose to come to MSU and pursue a degree in education?

I decided to pursue a degree in education because I loved working with kids. When I thought about what I wanted to do in life, I remembered how much of an impact my teachers had on me and realized that I would like the same for other kids. I decided to go to MSU because of the family atmosphere. It really did feel like a small community in a big school. When I first visited, I knew that it could be my home away from home.

How did the METP enhance your college experience at Mississippi State?

METP was able to connect me with a group of people who are going through the same situations that I was while at college.  Being able to engage with others who were similar to me really helped my transition from high school.

What were some of your other involvements on campus?

I was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, and I participated in Cru at MSU.

What do you want people to know about you?

I enjoy photography, reading, and lying in my hammock.

What advice would you give to entering freshmen or students that are finishing up high school?

To any entering freshmen, I would say to try out everything and to meet as many different people as you can. Don't miss out on the opportunities college holds, because you will regret each one you didn't take. To any students finishing up high school, I would say to go to college with the mindset to get a degree in something that will make you truly happy and will uplift you.
