Academics: Mathematics Education
Our secondary education mathematics major is designed to prepare students for a career in teaching mathematics at the 7-12 grade level.
Our major provides instruction and practical experiences to prepare you for the responsibilities and rewards of teaching students from Pre-Algebra through Calculus. Our major also provides both education and practical experiences to determine effective instructional approaches in the teaching of particular components of the secondary school curriculum: algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, calculus, and problem solving.
- Requirements for the secondary education major, with a concentration in mathematics (College of Education)
Many students choose to pursue a double major in mathematics and mathematics education. In order to do this, students must fulfill both the College of Education requirements for the secondary education major as well as the College of Arts & Sciences requirements for mathematics.
