Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program

Academics

Students majoring in secondary education at Mississippi State University will develop the skills and insights to become effective middle school or high school teachers and life-long learners. Because of Mississippi's rigorous teacher licensure standards, students graduating from the state's colleges and universities are favorably regarded nationwide.

Students have an opportunity to blend theory and practice through a series of content courses, methods courses, field experiences and a student teaching internship. The College of Education works in collaboration with public schools across Mississippi and throughout the United States.

The teacher education program at Mississippi State has been the pride of the University for nearly 60 years. It is widely recognized for excellence in its programs, faculty, staff and candidates, and is regarded as among the finest in the state of Mississippi. The program is fully accreditedby the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (continuously since 1961) and the Mississippi Department of Education.
